Scott M. Lippman, M.D., who holds the Ellen F. Knisely Distinguished Chair in Colon Cancer Research, is Professor of Medicine and Cancer Prevention at The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center. A graduate of The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, he is triple-board certified in internal medicine, hematology, and medical oncology.

Dr. Lippman has worked for 20 years in the translational, multidisciplinary study (from molecular mechanisms to the phase I, II, and III trials) of cancer prevention and therapy within multiple epithelial sites. He recently served on the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Oncologic Drugs Advisory Committee and currently serves on the editorial boards of peer-reviewed journals, including Cancer Research, Journal of Clinical Oncology, Journal of the National Cancer Institute, Clinical Cancer Research, and Cancer Epidemiology Biomarkers & Prevention. He also serves on a number of committees and meeting faculties for the FDA, National Cancer Institute, American Society of Clinical Oncology, and American Association for Cancer Research.
